NEWS: The Lion & Unicorn Theatre will reopen for live performances from 30 September 2020 https://ift.tt/3myRyr2

Beginning on 30 September 2020, The Lion & Unicorn Theatre’s first Covid-secure performances since lockdown will be a mix of brand-new work and some old favourites, as well as productions from the venue’s team of in-house Associate Artists.

The new season of work will begin with critically-acclaimed Edinburgh Festival Fringe show The Man by Patrick McPherson, running from 30 September to 2 October.

Artistic director David Brady said:

“After such a tough six months for our industry and the amazing theatre makers we are privileged to work with, it’s such a joy to be able to reopen The Lion & Unicorn Theatre as we continue in our work to create a destination fringe theatre venue for London. We’ve got some really exciting plans coming up, and we’re more determined than ever to continue to be a bit of a beacon of hope that theatre, and fringe theatre in particular can and will return better than ever before.”

Brady also explained that the theatre’s submissions policy had reopened, meaning that if there were creatives who had got a show, a burning idea, or simply wanted some support to get their work made, they would be welcome to send in their show via the submissions process on the theatre’s website.

The Lion & Unicorn Theatre’s management is keeping an eye on government guidelines for safety, social distancing regular cleaning and reduced audience capacity. Tickets must be booked online and in advance in allocated groups and the duty management team will be on site to look after visitors throughout their visit. For the time being, face coverings will be mandatory in the theatre while performances are ongoing.

The theatre is also open for Covid-secure rehearsal bookings, workshops, filming, photography and other uses of the space on favourable rates for emerging theatre companies. The Lion and Unicorn Pub is open in line with government guidance for the safe reopening of hospitality venues.

Supports of The Lion & Unicorn Theatre are also invited to consider a donation to the venue’s Crowdfunder as part of the #SaveOurTheatres Campaign.
