NEWS: Local lockdown unease leads to Six drive-in UK tour being cancelled https://ift.tt/3ewbDJeSix Touring

The drive-in tour of the hit musical Six, due to be performed across the UK in August and September 2020, has been cancelled due to concerns about local lockdowns.

Already a sell-out at some locations, Six was scheduled to play at 12 open air drive-in concert venues in London and other UK cities from Bristol to Edinburgh as part of Live Nation Entertainment’s Utilita Live From The Drive-In summer season. One of the cities in the line-up was Liverpool which is believed to be a potential Covid-19 hotspot. Ticketholders should get refunds within seven days.

The tour was likely to have given jobs to up to 60 creatives including cast members (from both the West End and touring productions), musicians, stage managers, technicians and freelancers. The two casts would have rehearsed and toured in a bubble, working in teams of six as per government guidance.

There was room for 300 vehicles to attend each show with a maximum of seven people allowed in each car. Fans would have been able to picnic and party as they watched the festival-style, full-length show live from their own dedicated area next to their vehicle.

Six producer Kenny Wax said:

“We are so very disappointed to have received the news of the cancellation earlier today. The previous hour has been spent telling the 60 members of our company that the job they were about to embark on has disappeared. We thank them for believing that we could make this happen. We know that ultimately there is nothing more important than the safety and wellbeing of our company and the Six Queendom. We look forward to better times.”

A Live Nation statement read: “The latest developments regarding localised lockdowns mean it has become impossible for us to continue with the series with any confidence”.

Thousands of Six fans were left disappointed when sold-out runs at the Arts Theatre in London as well as up and down the country on the UK tour were cancelled due to the Coronavirus lockdown. All cancelled UK touring dates have been moved to 2021.
