’It is crystal clear that the cast are loving every moment’: JOSEPH & THE AMAZING ALL STAR CONCERT (Online review) https://ift.tt/2AW6Kvu

We are nearly four months on when that sad day when our beloved theatres went dark, and we still have no idea when they are going to be able to open their doors again. Theatre has never experienced anything like this before and never before have artists, creatives and performers needed as much love and support as they do now. If all was well, we should have been looking forward to returning to the Palladium this summer for another run of the much loved Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and even though that has been rescheduled to next year, all is not lost. Enter Joseph and the Amazing All Star Concert.

Joseph has been around for 50 years, first written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice whilst they were in college together. Based on the famous Bible tale, Joseph tells the magical story of a boy who has the incredible power to interpret dreams. And after all these years, it has cemented its place in musical history. The music is legendary, the characters are much adored and the story has brightened countless lives.

This well put together concert brings cast members from across the world together virtually for an all too brief sing-song that will have you dancing in your seat. Not only will this concert bring great joy too many who remain stuck at home in these seemingly endless dark days, but it is doing it all for a very good cause. The concert will be raising money for Acting For Others, a fantastic charity that is working extremely hard at the moment to support actors, creatives and anyone tied to the industry in these trying times. A truly worthy cause.

With cast members including Ria Jones, Keith Jack, Darren Day, Jenna Lee-James, Zoe Tyler, Jaymi Hensley and Anthony Stuart Lloyd to name but a few, the vocals are stunning and the whole concert just feels joyous. Joseph is a show that just makes people smile, the many styles of music mixed together in a fast-paced technicolor dream.

There may have been a few technical issues on the night but that couldn’t distract from the enjoyment this concert will bring you. We are treated to performances of ‘Any Dream will Do’ and ‘Close Every Door’ along with the always brilliant mega mix. Even when stuck at home, it is crystal clear that the cast are loving every moment of being able to perform this incredible music. Even through your computer screen you can feel that buzz of happiness and excitement, that joyful feeling that comes with this show.

And you can’t fault this cast. Even when stuck at home, Andrew Geater pulls out all the stops as the rock and roll Pharoah alongside Marlon Moore. We get to see Keith Jack, Mark McMullan, Darren Day, Mike Holoway and Jaymi Hensley in the title role, each bringing their own style and we are instantly sent right back to our childhoods through the magic of this famous musical.

The show goes live on Facebook at 6.30pm this Friday (10/07/20) evening, and if you are in need of a burst of happiness, then this is the concert for you. This brought together cast sing their hearts out and love every second of it. And please donate if you can as this fantastic concert is raising funds for the incredible charity Acting For Others.
